Marketing 101: More Than Social Media?

The concept of marketing – its strategies, tactics, and tools – can be overwhelming. You might often find yourself wondering about overall strategy. “What do I measure?” “Is this valuable?” “Is this the most efficient use of my time?” There are no easy answers but rather a simpler way to approach your marketing strategy.

In this session, participants will walk through an outline of your organization's marketing plan, identifying target audiences, tactics, and tools to create an on and offline, cross channel marketing funnel. The course will also cover measurement and how to best assess the success of your efforts.

Using LinkedIn to Advance Your Nonprofit's Mission

Is your nonprofit effectively using LinkedIn? You probably know the benefits of (or the reasons to stay away from sites like) Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube but have you really explored the benefits of LinkedIn? More than any other social media, LinkedIn has proven to show success with audience engagement, relationship development, fundraising, brand exposure, and board and volunteer recruitment. During this session participants will walk through how to search and be sought as well as special tools to best manage your experience.

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • Learn how to use LinkedIn to highlight your expertise
  • Learn how to develop meaningful funder relationships (on LinkedIn)
  • Learn how to identify and recruit potential board and volunteer relationships

Social Media: Twitter in 120 Minutes or Less

What is Twitter and why should I use it? And how in the world do I post in 140 characters or less? So many questions, just in time. Twitter is a micro-blogging system that lets you send mini, meaningful messages to your followers. Need help tweeting for your nonprofit? This workshop will look at ways to utilize Twitter and help you understand, brand and expand one tweet at a time. Now tweet that!

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • Learn how to use twitter to build potential donor or volunteer lists
  • Learn how to build an audience on the online platform
  • Learn how to use twitter for an event.
  • Develop tools to maximize minimal time for twitter

Facebook as a Fundraising Tool

Taught at the Center for Nonprofit Management

Facebook is one of the fastest tools to share ideas and information and it’s where you can expand beyond your traditional audience while engaging those who have loyalty to you. 

This session will unpack the discomfort of Facebook, create an outline for at least three tactics to be more effective, show you the benefits of using Facebook for more than an increase in followers, and give you tips on how to create stories that will aid in the fundraising and volunteer engagement. The instructor will provide a real time one-minute Facebook audit for participants.

What will you need to get started?  Bring yourself, your laptop, and have your passwords handy for logging in. Participants are encouraged to set up a Facebook organization page before attending, if they do not have a page already.

This workshop is designed for nonprofit marketing and communications professionals, or anyone with a marketing aspect to his/her position.
